General Discussion / Re: NFL Draft

I wouldn't worry about Moss in New England.  They're getting the 2007 Randy Moss not the 2003 Randy Moss.  Big difference between the two.

It really depends on the mentality he gains from being on a good team that might actually go somewhere.  Hope changes people.

I logged on yesterday to call Mult a bastard.  Mult wasn't online, but that didn't stop me from /guild "New England and Mult can go to hell!"

*ahem*

Detroit Lions

First Round: Calvin Johnson

Good pick up.  Mike Martz can have some more fun!  Last season, I could sit through an entire Lion's game and be entertained.  Sure we lost the close games, but we were in the mix most the time.  Being entertained at this point, is just as good as winning.  Honestly, the last few years the games would put me to sleep.  Punting yardage totals aren't supposed to be "feature stats".

Rumor was Detroit demanded Tampa Bay's first round and both second round picks for Calvin Johnson.  The price wasn't right, so said the Bucs.  Could a deal still happen between the two teams?  Doubt it.  The information that has been coming from the Lions coaches has been very Pro-Johnson.  And like I said, a happy Martz makes for fun football.  The wins will come in time.  I mean shit, I'm a Lions fan, you think I'm not used to losing by now?  All I want is to be entertained at this point.

Second Round: Drew Stanton, Ikaika Alama-Francis & Gerald Alexander

As a Michigan State fan, I like Drew Stanton as a pick.  But because I've watched his College games, I have a few doubts on his NFL ability.  Hopefully he'll form into a good QB for the Lions.  Should be fun to see how he does in pre-season.

Ikaika...  Hope he recovers from his shoulder surgery alright, don't need anymore injury prone players earning their keep on the bench.  A good pass rushing DL could help out a ton.

Alexander...  I saw a couple Boise State games.  He played safety for BS, but it looks like the Lion's are going to make a CB out of him.  We'll see how he does.  But lets be honest, the Lion's are really hurting in the cover department.

Third Round:  A.J. Davis & Manuel Ramirez

A.J. Davis...  From what I've been reading and hearing, he's a good nickel corner and should be good to go for the regular season in that spot.  But he isn't a bump-and-run cover player, nor is he a run stop defender.  Yet, we're in need, so we'll take what we can get.

Manuel Ramirez...  Pass Blocker only atm.  Or atleast, that's pretty much what the breakdown comes too.  And for as many times Kitna was rushed/sacked last year, a good pass blocker is good addition.

The last two picks were pretty much fillers for the Lion's Defense, which needed to be fixed up a bit.  Hopefully the guys Marinelli is pulling into his club mesh well together.  It's going to be a long season.

All in all, I think the Lion's did a good job this draft.  But I think they've also done a few solid moves in the free agent forum as well.  My goal prediction for the Lion's has been the same every year since Barry Sanders retired...  8/8 showing some signs of life.  That's all I want.  I don't care if they make the playoffs, just flicker a light on and off that makes you think "Oh yea, we're about to turn the corner for some good pro-football in Michigan."

fun with 10k mode

I agree Brodie, I like 10k the most.  I keep trying different setups to see what can hold the line the longest.  This is my best score so far.

Razziel:  Holy crap, that's a lot of guns.

Gravity:  Yea, but they're starting to make it all the way through.

Razziel:  That's kinda cool, setting it up like a maze so they all get hit by multiple guns.

Gravity:  Yep.  Shit, one made it all the way through.

Razziel:  That boss isn't going down very fast, how many towers have you upgraded?

Gravity:  Upgrade?!

Razziel:  Hahahahahahahaha

Gravity:  Son of a bitch!
