You Mad Bro? / Blizzard Warnings (before it has even started snowing...)
« on: February 01, 2011, 07:51:12 AM »
As of the end of last week, the media has been talking about this "end all, be all, massive snow storm" that is supposed to hit tonight and through out tomorrow.  My phone gets stupid weather alert text messages.  I've recieved 10+ effing texts today about blizzard warnings, winter weather advisories and ice advisories.

It's not even snowing at the moment...

But that isn't what makes me mad bro...

I have a flight to catch Thursday morning for Texas...  This snow storm better not fuck with my vacation...

As some of you know, I'm a draftsmen for a small engineering firm.  Small, as in, I'm the only one who does drafting with two engineers keeping me busy.  A few of the companies we do business with have their own CAD people, but their go-to-guys for perspective drawings are no longer with those companies.

A couple weeks ago, my boss had me do a perspective drawing for one of the two companies to help them out.  When they saw my work and how quickly I got it done, that company decided I would be the "OH SHIT" guy.   :(  Motherfuckers told the second company about my work.  So now, I'm BOTH companies "OH SHIT" guy...

Today...  Yesterday...  Just before lunch my boss gets a phone call.

Boss:  You need what?  Two perspectives of two different plants?  By when?  For who? (<-- BIG WIGS WANT, NOW)  Of course, I'll get Andy working on them right away.  Oh sure, he can do it.

Oh sure, don't ask me.  Perspectives take some time.  Draw them, color them and they need to be presentable.  And since I don't draw perspectives every day, sometimes it's like relearning how to ride a bike.

Well, my boss comes up to me and asks me to work on these perspectives.  I looked at him and asked when they were needed.  First thing in the morning, for a 9am meeting.   :'(

It's about 3:30am.  I've got three motherfucking perspectives drawn up, colored and ready to go.  I'm also finishing up on a 4th.  Take that bitchface ass holes.  When you walk in the office this morning, I'M GOING HOME!

You Mad Bro? / Political Radio Adds that State Nothing...
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:17:17 PM »
I'm guessing it is not just in Michigan, but the latest wave of political adds are now saying the same thing from both parties.  Always the challenger going up against an incumbent.

Bla, bla, bla is business as usual.  Vote for bla, bla, bla to end business as usual...

What is so effing difficult with stating HOW you are going to change something?  We're voting for our State Governor and I don't have a damn clue what either sides strategy is at the moment.

"I'll get Michigan back to work!"

"Let's stop the bleeding, let's get Michigan jobs BACK into Michigan."

If one of them states a plan on how they're going to attempt to help to fix our State's economy, I'm voting for that guy.  If neither state a plan, I'm voting republican this year.  Why?  Because the Unions are supporting the Democrat.  Unions were once needed, they were part of the solution to bad work conditions.  Now, they've sadly become part of the problem.

I hate these effing ADs.  And I'm sick of answer the phone at work only to get a effing robot telling me VOTE FOR SUCH AND SUCH...

General Discussion / Do NOT stand up David Letterman...
« on: September 25, 2008, 07:17:06 AM »
McCain makes a big mistake, telling David Letterman he can't make it because he has to "rush to Washington" to help fix the economy...  Let this be a lesson, don't stand up David for another Show...

If Letterman was this way all the time, I'd watch every night!  And I'm not talking politics here, I'm saying David Letterman's show is 10 times better when he's on the attack.  Another example is when he went after Paris Hilton...

So classic.

You Mad Bro? / Site Development is over-rated...
« on: December 05, 2007, 12:43:41 PM »
We start with a site that is 89,000 sq. ft. and design a gas station for a semi-large company.

Site = 89,000 sq. ft.

In-turn they tell us plans changed.  Site is now half what it used to be.

Site = 44,544 sq. ft.

So we make several designs for the new site.  In-turn they tell us plans changed, they want a car wash included on the site.

Site = 44,544 sq. ft.

So we make several designs for the new site.  During our design we find information on the site setbacks.  Site gets smaller.

Site = 23,274 sq. ft.

So we make several designs for the new site.  During our design it is brought to our attention that 50% of the site MUST be green space.  Site gets smaller...

Site = 20,300 sq. ft.

So we try to make a design for the new site.  While attempting to make a site that fits on a 20,300 sq. ft. site we find out that gas stations have a different setback then we were told.  SITE GETS SMALLER!

Site = 7,600 sq. ft.

...Buildings (Quick Stop, Fuel Canopy & Car Wash), all small structures, on the site take up 16,907 sq. ft.

Site = -9,307 sq. ft.

I inform boss #1 how bad things have become...  As we begin to discuss the site, boss #2 (who doesn't seem to do anything but talk to customers) can be heard from his office, on the phone.

"Hey Rob. No problems on the site, we'll have it ready for you by tomorrow's meeting."

Boss #1:  "Yea, that's not good."

Me:  "Can I go on vacation, starting now?"

General Discussion / Serpentshrine and TK Attunements Lifted
« on: June 19, 2007, 12:27:21 PM »
After a lot of thought and deliberation, we’ve decided to remove the attunement requirements to enter Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep: The Eye. While many of our attunements in the Burning Crusade have been good progression checks, a few of the attunements have turned out to cause unnecessary stress on guilds either doing the content or attempting to do the content. With Black Temple and Battle for Mount Hyjal thriving, we want to encourage (rather than prevent) new guilds and raid groups to attempt Serpentshrine and TK. We are going to leave the current attunement quests in the game so that players can still engage in the challenge and the lore of those quests should they choose to. At a later point, we are considering adding a final reward step to those quests as well (that way those who have already completed them would not miss out on a *new* reward).

We’re listening to feedback from you guys constantly and your opinions are important to us. We want this game to be the best possible MMO experience for our players.

Enjoy Serpentshrine and Tempest Keep =)

(Please note: This change will go live later today -- it's not yet active)

Recruitment / Helpful Tip to Potential Apps
« on: May 21, 2007, 06:31:45 AM »
Remember, your application is typically the first impression you will be giving to many members of Undead and Fabulous.

The less you tell us about yourself, the less likely you'll get an invite.  How you present yourself here will go a long way, so take your time, fill out the app and have fun with it.

If you have a long guild history, atleast take the time to list the last three you were in and explain why you are nolonger with those guilds.

Honesty goes a long way.
